Taiwan 2019 Day 4: Chiayi 嘉义 // 21 Oct 2019


And today was the day we head out to Chiayi 嘉义.
We checked out from the hotel and left our big luggages with them.
Then we took our small luggages and took the train to Kaoshiung Station (高雄车站).
We transferred to take the TRA.

So we took the 8.30am train

After about 2 hours, we finally arrived into Chiayi 嘉义.

And we finally arrived at ChiaYi

And our first things first was to drop off our luggage. We walked around for a bit and got a little lost, then we found a cab to take us to the hotel.

And we were hungry so we headed out for lunch!!! The lunch place was about 5 mins walk from our hotel. We went to 慶昇小館 because research shows that they have award winning fried rice!!!

After lunch, we wanted to find a cab to take us to the nearby tourist attractions but we were unable to flag on the streets. So we decided to head back to the hotel and ask the hotel to help us to book a half day cab to take us around. 

The first stop he brought us to was Taipeng Suspension Bridge.

Once you exit the bridge, you will have to climb a flight of stairs down to return to the Car Park area. I think because of the altitude we were at, the temperature was nice and cool. A cardigan would be good for this spot.

Then he drove us down to the Chiayi main city area. The journey took about an hour.

And we walked opposite to the Hinoki Village. It is a cultural village.

We walked around, had some dessert before we headed off to our last tourist spot - Song of the Forest.

And that was the end of our 4 hours tour and we were dropped off at our hotel where we got to check in.

After we dropped off our luggages, we headed out for dinner. We decided that we were not going to miss the signature Turkey Rice since we are in Chiayi. And we walked to the one near our hotel and recommended by our driver.

We are still missing the taste as we think about it. The dinner place was just 600m walk from the Wenhua Night Market (文化夜市) so we headed over for some shopping.


And we headed back to the hotel to rest. Did we mention that the Night Market was just a stone throw away from the hotel? Really convenient. 

That was all for Day 4. We rested early because we anticipated a long day tomorrow.

And we're at Day 4 of our trip. And finally we're travelling out of HK!!!  If you were to ask if for my favourite highlight for the trip, it would have to be Shunde 顺德. We didn't get much done in a day but the whole feel of the city is one that I like. Their pace is not as rushed as Hong Kong and it seems that the people appreciate life better. How to get tickets to Shunde 顺德?  We bought our tickets from China Travel Services, but I believe you may be able to get the tickets online too. We had to pay an admin fee of 12 HKD when we purchase our tickets through China Travel Services. One way ticket to Shunde will cost HKD 240 each (~SGD41). The ferry timings are 8.30am , 9.30am , 11.00am , 3.00pm and 6.00pm . We departed our hotel at about 7.15am, took the cab to China HK City, which took us just 15 mins ride from our hotel. After procrastinating for a good one month after returning from this all-time favourite trip of my life (well at least up until 2013), I have FINALLY settled down to blog about it... Winter in Korea 2019: Day 7: Seoul (Last Day of 2019)

We were thankful that we could get an extension to check out at 3pm so we headed out to a few spots before we leave Seoul today. Since Sinseol-dong is part of the Line 2, we were aiming to take direct line to Samseong. The line stopped at Seongsu and we didn't know we were supposed to transfer to another platform to be on the same line. We ended up on the line towards City Hall, and we alighted at Wangsimni station. When we were transiting, we noticed this bakery (and considering that we were hungry), we bought this yummy garlic bread! Such a good Garlic Bread (with cheese and egg) - at 3900 won Then we went on our way to Seolleung station to change to Samseong station.
