First HOLIDAY of 2018 ~ HONG KONG DAY 1

We were so excited for the trip, or rather HY was more excited than I was that we didn't realise that Cathay Pacific sent us an sms to inform us that the flight was to be delayed by 2 hours. So we ended up being at the airport way earlier than expected. But no harm to that since we were at Terminal 4 and it was HY's first visit to Terminal 4, we took slow strolls inside the Terminal.

Received a TSA lock recently as a gift - such a timely gift!

Terminal 4

We were unsure of the reason of delay except we were both getting tired, or rather I was feeling more sleepy since I was up since 5am that morning. But isn't life filled with both sweet and sour moments? There are sour moments like this that wants to enter in to disrupt our mood and excitement for the upcoming trip, but all in all, all it does, is spice up the trip!

And we were finally on board the plane and safely landed in HONG KONG at almost 8am! While we were disembarking, I remember overhearing a Japanese family who missed their connecting flights because of the delay. At that thought, I realised that we should be grateful. At least we didn't miss our next flight. Because there was no "next flight".

Remember to fill in the Arrival form

One of the first things I do when I reach HK... ECLIPSE flavour that cannot be found in SG!

And the first thing to check off the list... drop off our luggage at the hotel!

We took the Airport Express to Kowloon station. Airport Express tickets cost HKD 150 for 2 pax.
(~$26.13) When we arrive at Kowloon station, we look for the Airport Shuttle. We took bus K5 and the last stop was DORSETT MONGKOK!

Once we dropped off our luggage at the hotel, we quickly took the 11am shuttle bus to Mongkok MTR! And our first stop was to head to Sheung Wan because I was meeting my girlfriend for lunch!

Classical signages of Hong Kong

My girlfriend arranged to meet me for lunch at Zenon Café. Being a frequent visitor of Hong Kong, I totally didn't mind Cafe (non-HK) food for my first meal at Hong Kong! And I loved how tasty the pasta was!

We ordered this but we found it too sour for us both!

It may not look so but this is really tasty!!!
Lunch for 2
We had a really good catch up (sometimes I am really amazed at how friendships can be maintained, or even sweeter than before, even when we are miles away)! And because it started drizzling a bit, I could shelter her and walk her back to her office at Central!

PMQ

Because it was drizzling, we figured it would be best to hang out somewhere with shelter and so we headed to PMQ 元創方! What I like about this building is how serene the place is, and every room is filled with interesting, artistic and local designer items. That means many of the things u see here, you probably wouldn't get to see it outside. It is made of 2 blocks, namely Staunton and Hollywood.

And we headed to the top floor and we were surprised to find the Korea Cultural Centre at L7 of Hollywood! And that was the perfect place because we were both quite tired out by the lack of sleep due to the midnight flight. Mental note to self: not to take midnight flight to Hong Kong in future

Korea Cultural Centre
They happened to have a table so I took a quick nap on the table! The aircon was nice and there wasn't many people walking past so it was quite peaceful.

Grateful to find a place to rest my head for a bit
After we had a good rest, we walked around the shops but we didn't buy anything because most of the items were beyond what we could afford. And we ended at the ground floor foyer.

Exhibition at the foyer
After a nice Monday afternoon at PMQ, we headed to our next stop ... KWUN TONG PROMENADE! But before we leave Central, we headed to my favourite EGG TART at Tai Cheong!

1 each!!!

Flagship store at Central

Satisfied with our yummy, melt in the mouth egg tart, we walked down to Central station. We took the blue line to North Point, change to the purple line to Yau Tong.

At Yau Tong, we changed lines to Kwun Tong! When we walked out of Kwun Tong, we followed Exit B. Keep on walking, and follow the signs to Kwun Tong Promenade. Just when we were wondering how to cross over opposite to get to the Promenade, we felt a gush of air con and saw this sign! Footbridge to Kwun Tong Ferry Pier!

And we took the more restful route to cross over to the Ferry Pier.

Kwun Tong Public Pier

This isn't a place where "tourist" would usually head to in Hong Kong, and this was also what we liked about thing place! Because it wasn't touristy! There are mainly locals doing their exercises, walking their dogs, taking graduation photoshoot and all. We rested and chilled there enjoying the breeze that was incoming and eventually captured this beautiful shot.

Look at the beautiful blue sky

Panoramic view

Even though we would have loved to see the sunset, but because it was too cloudy, we didn't manage to catch the sunset. But even so, we were satisfied to get to chill at such a relaxing place! Forgot to mention the "fishy smell" along the way to the Promenade, but once you're at the Promenade, the smell doesn't quite linger.

And with that, we headed off for dinner. We walked back to Kwun Tong station and took 5 stations away to Lok Fu. I like what "Lok Fu" translates to. "Lok" means joy and "Fu" means full of, so it means FULL OF JOY!

The first thing that caught our eyes when we walked out of the station

Took Exit B from the station, walked past the park, crossed the traffic light and we found ourselves at Eat Chinese Restaurant 食棧.

Our dinner place

Wanted to go there because I saw good reviews that they have nice roast goose, but have to say, we were utterly disappointed at the Roast Goose. The only good thing about this restaurant was it isn't one of those typical fast food restaurant that expects you to eat really fast and clear the table for the next guests in line. So we appreciated that we could rest and take our time at the food.

We found their roast meat too oily for our tasting

Their Brinjal tasted pretty good, in comparison to the roast meat, but we still found it tasty.

In our view, we would probably not return to this place. Unless you are looking for a place for big group gathering, without the pressure of time, then maybe you can try it out.

But the other reason we went to that area was because we wanted to try out a dessert place in that vicinity. Well not really in the vicinity but we had to walk for about 8-10 mins to get there. The name of the place is 地茂館甜品

地茂館甜品

They have a wide variety of choices
And after much consideration, we both decided to go for the Honeydew Sago! And it was super refreshing!!!

While the photo might not do it justice, we were grateful to end the night with a refreshing dessert.

If it fits in my itinerary the next round, I probably come back here again!!! But I'll probably do more research and see if there are better food options around this dessert place.

With that, we took a cab back to our hotel. And we finally checked into our room!

Our room

That's all for our first day of the trip (very long day indeed)! Good night!
