Taiwan 2019 Day 3: Kaohsiung 高雄 // 20 Oct 2019



 First things first, breakfast! 


We went to 田记豆浆 today.


Their 小笼包 was not too bad. We ordered the less sugar for the Soya Bean so it was a little disappointing. 

This was my favourite!

Once we filled our tummies, we walked to the nearest train station.

Then we took one stop to 西子湾 station. And then exit from Exit 1.


Upon coming out of the exit, you will see this signage to lead you to Gushan Ferry Pier. Turn left at the exit.

Then keep walking along this street, and at the end of the street, turn right. Once you turn right, walk all the way down and you will find yourself at the Ferry Pier. We arrived at around 9.40am.

Head towards the Passengers holding area (air-conditioned). The wait for the next ferry should be quite fast.

We boarded the ferry and within 5 mins, we were over at Cijin Island. Upon arrival, we rented this tricycle to help us get around the island. The staff told us that 2 hours would probably suffice.


And off we went to explore the island!

Our first stop was the Star Tunnel (星空隧道). And to be honest, this would probably be my favourite spot of the island.

After you exit from the Star Tunnel, you can actually take a nice and cooling hike along the coast. 

Then we returned back to our tricycle and headed to the subsequent destinations.

With that we kind of explored the whole of Cijin Island and we headed back to the Ferry Pier. That was about 12.10pm when we returned the tricycle. That cost us about NTD 700 (SGD 30.86 ~) for 2.5 hours.

And the trip back seems even quicker than when we came and we were back in about 5 mins.


Then we walked back to the 西子湾 station. On the way back, we passed by this ice cream place that my girlfriend recommended.

And since it was around lunch time, we headed to 鸭肉珍 for lunch. It was one train station away. We alighted at Yancheng Station.

Maybe because of the sun, we were getting sleepy so we headed back to the hotel to rest before we headed out. We rested for about 2 hours in the afternoon before we cabbed out to Hanshin 汉神巨蛋.

We headed to the Basement to look for Wu Pao Chun.

And then we chanced upon another bakery which was actually even nicer.

And we started walking out to the Ruifeng Night Market (瑞丰夜市).  It was about a 8 mins walk from the station.

And we chanced upon a Western food place, I was super delighted to get to have some steak!!!

After our dinner, we walked around a bit, mainly to get Aloe Vera gel and Insect Repellent for my mosquito bites. Then we walked back to the Hanshin Mall area to have dessert.

Our favourite was the Iced Red Bean with Condensed Milk (红豆牛乳冰). After which we walked back to the nearest station and took a train back to our hotel.

And we're at Day 4 of our trip. And finally we're travelling out of HK!!!  If you were to ask if for my favourite highlight for the trip, it would have to be Shunde 顺德. We didn't get much done in a day but the whole feel of the city is one that I like. Their pace is not as rushed as Hong Kong and it seems that the people appreciate life better. How to get tickets to Shunde 顺德?  We bought our tickets from China Travel Services, but I believe you may be able to get the tickets online too. We had to pay an admin fee of 12 HKD when we purchase our tickets through China Travel Services. One way ticket to Shunde will cost HKD 240 each (~SGD41). The ferry timings are 8.30am , 9.30am , 11.00am , 3.00pm and 6.00pm . We departed our hotel at about 7.15am, took the cab to China HK City, which took us just 15 mins ride from our hotel. Dream Come True 2013 - Day 1 (of 7) in Korea - Jeju-do (10 Dec 2013, Tuesday)

After procrastinating for a good one month after returning from this all-time favourite trip of my life (well at least up until 2013), I have FINALLY settled down to blog about it... Winter in Korea 2019: Day 7: Seoul (Last Day of 2019)

We were thankful that we could get an extension to check out at 3pm so we headed out to a few spots before we leave Seoul today. Since Sinseol-dong is part of the Line 2, we were aiming to take direct line to Samseong. The line stopped at Seongsu and we didn't know we were supposed to transfer to another platform to be on the same line. We ended up on the line towards City Hall, and we alighted at Wangsimni station. When we were transiting, we noticed this bakery (and considering that we were hungry), we bought this yummy garlic bread! Such a good Garlic Bread (with cheese and egg) - at 3900 won Then we went on our way to Seolleung station to change to Samseong station.
