Taiwan 2019 Day 2: Kaohsiung 高雄 // 19 Oct 2019

After a good night's rest, we took a cab to the breakfast place.

This was one of the highly recommended breakfast place so we decided to check it out too.

Our favourite two dishes was the You Tiao (油条) and Soya Bean (豆浆）and the Carrot Cake with Egg (萝卜糕炒蛋). And after visiting various different breakfast place for the rest of the trip, this was still our favourite one!

After a hearty breakfast, we walked over to the nearest station, Neiwei Station (內惟車站). We met a friendly local who gave us directions on where to go next to get to Qi Shan (旗山). We were told to take to Xin Zuoying Station (新左營站) to change to a bus that will bring us to Qi Shan (旗山).


When we arrived at Xin Zuoying Station (新左營站), we tapped out and followed the sign to the bus station.

However, we didn't get the chance to reach the bus station because we met a taxi driver that offered to take us around on a full day tour for NTD 3500 (SGD $154~).

His first stop for us was 佛光山 Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum.


We chanced upon this refreshing drink in the shops


Then we headed off for lunch.


Our tour guide told us that 美浓 Meinong is a Hakka village and they are famous for their 板条 noodles. And he drove us to the 庙口板条。

After a good meal, we were driven to the 美浓原乡缘纸伞文化村. This is where you can see and purchase Hakka traditional food and other items. They also have a DIY corner for painting paper umbrellas. 




Next up, we were driven to Meinong Lake (美浓湖).

Afterwhich, we visited the 美浓窑, a place to see the ceramics made by Artist Chu Pan-Hsiung. 



And we headed over to 旗山老街 Qishan Old Street.

After shopping on the streets of QiShan, we headed back to Kaoshiung city and the driver recommended this Seafood place to us.

And he sent us back to our hotel. Considering that the night was still early, my mum and I headed out to Shinkuchan Shopping District (新掘江).

There are also Sports outlets like Adidas, Puma, Under Armour etc. After a fruitful night of shopping, we headed back to our hotel to rest.

And we're at Day 4 of our trip. And finally we're travelling out of HK!!!  If you were to ask if for my favourite highlight for the trip, it would have to be Shunde 顺德. We didn't get much done in a day but the whole feel of the city is one that I like. Their pace is not as rushed as Hong Kong and it seems that the people appreciate life better. How to get tickets to Shunde 顺德?  We bought our tickets from China Travel Services, but I believe you may be able to get the tickets online too. We had to pay an admin fee of 12 HKD when we purchase our tickets through China Travel Services. One way ticket to Shunde will cost HKD 240 each (~SGD41). The ferry timings are 8.30am , 9.30am , 11.00am , 3.00pm and 6.00pm . We departed our hotel at about 7.15am, took the cab to China HK City, which took us just 15 mins ride from our hotel. Dream Come True 2013 - Day 1 (of 7) in Korea - Jeju-do (10 Dec 2013, Tuesday)

After procrastinating for a good one month after returning from this all-time favourite trip of my life (well at least up until 2013), I have FINALLY settled down to blog about it... Winter in Korea 2019: Day 7: Seoul (Last Day of 2019)

We were thankful that we could get an extension to check out at 3pm so we headed out to a few spots before we leave Seoul today. Since Sinseol-dong is part of the Line 2, we were aiming to take direct line to Samseong. The line stopped at Seongsu and we didn't know we were supposed to transfer to another platform to be on the same line. We ended up on the line towards City Hall, and we alighted at Wangsimni station. When we were transiting, we noticed this bakery (and considering that we were hungry), we bought this yummy garlic bread! Such a good Garlic Bread (with cheese and egg) - at 3900 won Then we went on our way to Seolleung station to change to Samseong station.
