Winter in Korea 2019: Day 2: Busan (Boxing Day)

Good morning! Happy Boxing Day!

Started the day with banana milk

Ms. P helped us to get tickets for our KTX to Busan. She got the promo price on Klook for SGD124 each. Then she went to the KORAIL website to book the tickets. We went to the ticket counter to pick up our tickets (for both ways) in the morning.

Tip: Try to arrive at least 10-15mins before your train departs so that you can have ample space to put your luggages. Alternatively we realised that there were huge luggage lockers at the Seoul station which you could also consider to park your large luggages there before you head to Busan.

Space to park your luggages on the KTX

The ride was about 2 hours and we had a good rest before reaching Busan.  Since we were only able to check into our AirBnB at 5pm, we found a place to park our luggage first.

Best of all, it only cost us 6000 won (regardless of number of hours). You can pay with your Tcard. Then we headed to the metro station.

Follow the arrows to the metro

Go down the escalators

Go towards the gantry

We got into the wrong platform and had to go out of the gantry (thankful for the staff who helped) and get into the other side. Tip: Do check which platform you're going before you tap in, because their platforms are not directly opposite each other.

Remember to check which way you're going
We took 3 stops and alighted at Jagalchi station.

Then headed for Exit 7 (do not be stumbled by the number of stairs to climb while you're there).

Once you come out of the exit, head straight.

Then turn left at Jungguo-ro. Walk for a few streets down and you'll pass by a Daiso.

And we went in to get some heatpacks (and also came back again to get umbrella as it was raining).

Turn left when you pass Daiso and you should find yourself on the street of the eatery.

Busan Jokbal (부산족발)
Really like this Cider drink they offered us (service - so no charge)

All the side dishes they provided (including the cold noodles)

Star of the meal
Damage for the meal was 30,000 won (for both of us). If you're a fan of jokbal (pig trotters), definitely give this shop a try!

After a hearty meal, we headed our way to the Igidae Costal Walk (or so we thought 😂).

We headed back to the train station to catch the train to Kyungsung University/Pukyong National University Station (Metro line 2), interchanging at Seomyeon.

Take Exit 3 from the metro station. Make a u-turn when you come out from the station, make a left turn at Yongso ro street.

Yongso ro street (this is the view from the bus stop)

Cross the street and take buses 22, 24 or 27 at the stop near Paris Baguette (right outside LLOYD).

We took Bus 24 and alighted at Igidae Entrance stop (we recommend taking all the way to Oruykdo Islands stop). We ended up doing a hilly hike instead of a coastal walk.

After 2 hours of hiking, we finally chanced upon a bus to take us to Oruykdo Islands stop.

yay, we were so happy to get on the bus

Finally reached the Oryukdo Skywalk

But it was closed :(

How the Skywalk would look like

The view

So with that, we headed back to the bus-stop to catch the bus to BIFF square.

We took bus 27 and it took us all the way to Nampo-dong Beef Plaza stop, which was just right outside BIFF square. The ride was for about an hour.

BIFF Square

It was about 5.30pm when we got there and since we were hungry, we went for the street food stalls. The fishcakes tasted exceptionally nice!

You just eat as many sticks as you want and pay the aunty after you're done. You can take a cup to drink the soup too.

Korean sausage
Finally tried tteokbokki on the street, tasted so so good!

And sausages too!

Then we walked back to the entrance and walked underground to the Nampo Underground Shopping Center. Definitely a great place to hide from the cold.

Nampo Underground Shopping Center

Then we walked through the underground to get to Nampo station exit 1.

This was to lead us to the Busan Christmas Tree Festival. And if it wasn't for the Christmas festival, it would be a nice place to shop too as that was where we started shopping for our cosmetics.

WOW-ed to see even BEE CHENG HIANG here!

And once we were done with our shopping (and our many KMs of walking today), we headed back to Busan station to collect our luggage and cabbed to our AirBnB instead (we weren't able to find the lift that led us to the platform - which we found the next day).

We booked Ssung's place to stay for the night.

They even have hair straightener!

And after much contemplation, we finally ask Ssung if he could order Fried Chicken for us and he did! This cost us about 16,900 won.
