Winter in Korea 2019: Day 4: Seoul (Last Saturday of 2019)

First up, breakfast! We went to check out Cafe Onion. We took the train to Anguk station and exit from Exit 3.

They put their wifi password on the napkins.

Nope, we didn't get this

We ordered a Avocado Pollack Roe Baguette (not too bad), Injeolmi version of the Pandoro (quite interesting), Ms. P got a Caffe Latte and I got the Milk Tea. All in all cost us 27,000 won and half an hour of queuing.

Not very wow-ed by our breakfast, we headed to the Unhyeongung Palace just across the street from Exit 3 (or you can come out of Exit 4 if you were coming from the Metro).

Entrance

Once you've exit from the Palace, turn left. You will come to this signage. Turn right and you will be walking towards Insadong.

When you reach this T-section, turn right and you will find yourself walking towards Ssamziegil - a unique shopping place. Both Ms. P and I managed to get stuff from here.

Coming out of Ssamziegil, we went across to Line Friends shop.

Cute!

We walked further down the street and we chanced upon this cultural performance! Talk about right place right time.

Then it was about time we find a place for lunch (as I was meeting my friend at 2pm).

We saw that this shop was selling Seafood Pancake (which I was craving for) and so we walked in. We initially thought we walked into the wrong shop.

Looks like a Garden more than a shop
Too pretty for a restaurant

This steamed egg was not bad!

Then I met with my friend while Ms. P headed to Myeongdong for shopping spree. My friend and I went to check out the Ikseon-dong nearby.

Crowded on a Saturday afternoon but it is similar to Bukchon Hanok Village except much smaller and on a flatter ground.

We stopped by Seoul 1945 to have coffee and catch up.

We ordered the Butter-Bread (yummy, it contains red-bean!), the Sweet Rice ice cream cube and the Vienna Milk Tea (pretty good).

Tip: I was asking my Korean friend what app they usually use and she recommended "Foodie" app for the food, it really brings out the best of the food.

And she was asking me what else we need to get and I mentioned that we will be checking out the Lotte Mart to buy snacks home and she suggested checking out other marts along the way that may be more convenient for us. We went to the nearby Lemon Mart to check out the prices.

My Korean friend recommended

I didn't end up getting anything as I wanted to check out the E-mart near where we stay.

And when I mentioned to her that I haven't really seen the Cheonggyecheon stream, she walked me there too.

Not sure if it was the cold or the winter that makes the stream exceptionally quiet in view. And we slowly walked to Jonggak Station from one of the exit of the stream. Then we parted ways from there and I went to meet Ms P at the station nearest to our accommodation to place her shopping spree down first.

Then we headed off to a nearby BBQ place (which is actually quite famous) to get dinner.

We went to get queue number and we were ushered upstairs to the waiting lounge to wait for our turn.

Waiting lounge
They will announce your number when they are ready. We waited around an hour before we got a table. But I think the fact that we were waiting indoors really helped because it was warm.

Side dishes

You have to order minimum 2 portions of one type of meat. We choose the Moksal (150g) (15,000 won).

So juicy it melted in our mouth

So we decided to spoil ourselves by ordering the beef too (42,000 won)!

How to get there?
Exit from Sinseol-dong Exit 10, make a u-turn at the exit, and turn right at the first road you see. As you walk one street down, you will find the restaurant when you turn left.

After having a great meal, we walked to the nearest E-mart from our place to get snacks and food to bring back home!

Our happy buys!

So cute, too bad it was too big for us to bring back home
