[HONG KONG] Off the TOURIST track DAY 1 - 21 October 2015

Many people discouraged me from taking this trip, but I am so glad I did it anyway! The main reason I took this trip was to attend a super close girlfriend's wedding. So why did people discouraged me not to go? Because I went SOLO! Yes, you heard it right, on my own! And there is absolutely nothing wrong with going to Hong Kong alone, except you wouldn't be able to order a full table of food and try only bits and pieces here and there so yah. So off I went! If you've read my previous post, I took the exact same airline, the exact same timing to and fro Hong Kong. It was pretty comfortable, there was quite a bit of turbulence but somehow that made me sleep better. All that said, I had a whole row to myself because it wasn't a super full flight - another plus point! When we were preparing to land, I totally did not want to wake up! Woke up, walked down the plane, cleared the customs (remember to fill in the departure form) and went to 7-eleven to grab a bottle of wa...

Time really flies when you're having fun and soon it was our last day in Vietnam... Feasting for breakfast! We went for our buffet breakfast before heading out to the UP cafe. Thankful we ate a feast before going to the cafe because there was really nothing fantastic in the cafe (plus we read reviews on the cafe). We took a cab, costing us about 90,000VND (~SGD$5) and about 15 mins before arriving in this interesting cafe. UP cafe  The reason it is called the UP cafe is because of the interior that everything is upside down and I have to admit it is an interesting enough idea to attract us there. Level 2 of the cafe When I saw the UPside down PIANO, I was quite intrigued by it to visit the cafe. Unfortunately it was closed when we got there in the morning and we learn that they only open level 2 in the night. So if you would like to sit under this upside down PIANO, come by in the evening. Level 1 of the cafe As such, we were only able to sit on Level 1...

We woke up a little earlier than yesterday in preparation for the Chu Chi Tunnel tours. Day 3 breakfast After breakfast, we headed opposite for my daily fix of Sweet Potato Latte and LY had her satisfying cup of coffee. We went back to the hotel quickly as we were supposed to be picked up at the lobby at 8.45am, however the van arrived earlier than expected.  We booked the tour through Kim Travels and we will recommend that too. Our half day tour (from 8.30am - 2.30pm) cost us 310,000VND (~SGD$19), and that was inclusive of entrance fee into Chu Chi Tunnel. This was better priced than the package our hotel offered us so we chose Kim Travels. Simply book the tour through their website and they'll email you for confirmation. If you do not have a SIM card like us and they are unable to contact you via the phone, leave them your hotel and room number and they would leave you messages at the reception.  For more information, check out their website throu...
